Family Advocacy Program

The Family Advocacy Program is a service of the Psychological Services Center. It is designed to meet the needs of African American and Low Income residents in Champaign and Urbana.

The goal is to help families in crisis or who are experiencing stress in any life domain. This is accomplished through an empowerment focused model in which the whole family is mentored. The group hopes to promote family self-determination through advocacy, modelling, and teaching families how to access services.

The process is entirely family driven and relies on indigenous commmunity helpers to bridge the gap between community and human services.
