Adequacy of Care for Elders with Alzheimer's Disease in Rural Communities

Most elders with Alzheimer's Disease live at home and are cared for by family members. Providing care to a family member with dementia is always challenging; doing so in a rural community where fewer medical and social services may be available or accessible makes the task even harder. This study will examine the availability, accessibility and adequacy of formal and informal care for elderly patients experiencing dementia. The study is supported by the Hartford Foundation, with assistance from the Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.
