Visiting in Foster Care
For children in substitute care who may be reunited with their families, parental visits are the primary means of maintaining family connections. Yet parental visits may be infrequent or fail to provide parent and child with the opportunity for meaningful interactions. This series of studies, funded by the Children and Family Research Center, has investigated parent-child interactions, as well as the role of the child welfare agency, in parent visits. The goal is to improve visits and encourage developmentally supportive parent-child-agency relationships.
