Summer Wheelchair Sports Camps: Track, Roadracing, and Handcycle
The Summer Wheelchair Sports Camps are hosted by the Division of Rehabilitation-Education Services at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. These are intensive skill-building camps designed to promote athletic skill and fitness in the young wheelchair athlete. They provide the opportunity for young athletes to improve their individual skills. All skill levels from beginner to advanced are accepted. Campers will be placed in groups according to skill level. Participants reside in air-conditioned University of Illinois dormitories. Camps are open to all young people with lower extremity disabilities who have good use of their upper bodies. Campers must be able to independently care for all their daily living activities (bathing, dressing, etc.). Camps are staffed by the U. of I. wheelchair coaches and other prominent wheelchair coaches from across the country. U. of I. wheelchair athletes serve as counselors and junior staff. This camp is June 19-24, 2004 and will be for those ten years and up -- including adults.
