Public Service Activities
Program in Jewish Culture and Society Speakers Bureau
The Program in Jewish Culture and Society at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign offers the services of a group of faculty speakers to synagogues, churches, libraries, and other interested groups. Part of the mission is to provide outreach to the general public and offer a Speakers Bureau to enhance efforts in this area. Faculty members will speak on various topics concerning Jewish culture and society. Each speaker has an interest in sharing his or her knowledge with the general public. They are eager to share their expertise on a wide variety of topics and subject areas in the study of Jewish culture, ranging from Judaica and Jewish languages and literature, the newest ideas in the fields of cultural anthropology. All the lecturers are experienced in public speaking and understand the importance of giving interesting presentations to non-academic audiences. They can speak in large lecture settings or in a home to a small gathering. Our bureau members will speak on location for a modest fee and travel expenses. Availability of speakers will depend on prior commitments and the schedule of the speaker. To arrange for one or more speakers to speak to your group or at an event, please contact the Program in Jewish Culture and Society office.
