Weather World 2010

Weather World 2010 is a web-based framework for multimedia education in the atmospheric sciences. This web server is used to reach the K-12 community throughout the state, as well as UIUC students in undergraduate survey courses. Topics span from hurricanes and the hydrologic cycle, to fronts and El Nino. Educational text content is supplemented with photographs, diagrams, animations, and movies creating a multimedia environment. The environment has also been placed on CD-ROM for Illinois schools with slow or non-existent Internet connections, creating a broader accessibility for teachers and their students. Current work in this project is to integrate Weather World 2010's educational content into a new suite of current weather products, providing for direct understanding between education and everyday weather.
