Integration of Cultural Histories into High School Social Studies

This institute, sponsored by the Afro-American Studies and Research Program (AASRP), provides high school social studies teachers with content and materials needed to integrate African-American history and culture into their courses. A 1992 State law requires all public elementary and secondary schools to construct curricula inclusive of African-American and women's histories and the history of the Holocaust. The AASRP created the Summer Institute, which meets for one week, to provide the expertise and information to teachers.
