Center for African Studies - Outreach Program

The goal of this center is to raise awareness of Africa and to enhance understanding of African peoples and cultures. The center serves pre-service educators, teachers, and students through class visits, consultations, curriculum workshops based in the U.S. and in Africa, a free bi-annual newsletter, "Update", and curriculum materials available in print, online and for loan from the African studies outreach library. Targeted workshops and events are organized for business communities, journalists and the media, and social service agencies. We also organize programs that reach community organizations, youth groups, the elderly, incarcerated populations, as well as the general public. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the center is designated a national resource center on Africa.
