Krannert Art Museum
Krannert Art Museum is the second largest fine arts museum in Illinois and serves a significant role as a visual arts resource that is free and accessible to the entire learning community. The Museum's rich and diverse permanent collection includes more than 8,000 works of fine art ranging from the fourth millennium BC to the present and features nine permanent galleries devoted to ancient Mediterranean art, Pre-Columbian art, the arts of Africa and Asia, and European and American paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts. The facility also includes a cafe/bookstore, auditorium, The Giertz Education Center, library and print study room. In addition to offering the public attractive, thoughtful exhibitions, the Museum also reaches out to the community with special events, organized tours, public lectures, teacher workshops, Web site access to the museum's permanent collection, and an education center that loans art resources.
