Agroecology/Sustainable Agriculture Assistance
The mission of the Agroecology/Sustainable Agriculture Program (ASAP) is to "facilitate and promote research and education which protects Illinois' natural and human resources and sustains agricultural production forever." Specialists coordinating ASAP work closely with farmers, extension, agribusiness, agency personnel and citizens to develop programs that foster ecologically sound, economically viable, and socially responsible agriculture. Educational materials are also developed to aid farmers in managing agroecosystems in ways that will ensure sustainable, safe, and sufficient food and fiber supplies.
