Mathematics, Science and Technology Education
The Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (MSTE) is a division of the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The goal of MSTE is to serve as a model-builder for innovative, standards-based, technology-intensive mathematics and science instruction at the K-16 levels. The Office serves as a campus-wide catalyst for integrative teaching and learning in mathematics, science, and technology education.
Support for MSTE comes from Partnership Illinois and other granting agencies for specific projects. These agencies include the Illinois Board of Higher Education (ISBE) and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications.
MSTE activities include workshops, the design and development of courses in the use of technology in mathematics instruction, and maintaining the MSTE Web site.
Currently, the MSTE Web site attracts over one hundred thousand user sessions each month. Especially popular are the Internet-based mathematics lessons and Java applets for mathematics.
The Mathematics Materials for Tomorrow's Teachers (M2T2) materials at
http://www.mste.uiuc.edu/m2t2/
are used for mathematics teacher workshops at schools and regional offices of education around Illinois.
