Flight Instructor Refresher Courses
Flight instructors must renew their certification every 24 months. The 16-hour Flight Instructor Refresher Course is an FAA-approved method for meeting the requirement for recertification. These seminars are conducted by the Institute of Aviation in cooperation with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Air Safety Foundation. Safety seminars cover topics such as weather, aerodynamics, flight maneuvers, and flight planning. The seminars are usually sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Illinois Department of Transportation, other state aeronautics departments or state pilots associations, and/or the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Air Safety Foundation.
