Library Research Center

Since 1976, the Center has supported research in the field of library and information science. In addition to its work with such agencies as the National Science Foundation, the American Library Association, and many local government agencies, the Center provides major support to the Illinois State Library through a contract to collect and analyze statistical information from public and school libraries throughout the state. Each year, the LRC and the State Library work together to identify and carry out research on problems of mutual concern, such as the impact of per capita funding on school library services. The LRC has also conducted research for many individual libraries in Illinois including more than 60 community analyses.
