Geriatric Education Project

This project provides free training programs to staff of rural nursing homes in central and south-central Illinois. The programs are primarily for nurse aides and include such topics as working with families, communicating with the hearing impaired, dealing with Alzheimer's disease, and sexuality in nursing homes. The presenters include university faculty and health practitioners. The project is unusual because it takes trainers to the nursing homes.
