Papers of Abraham Lincoln
The Papers of Abraham Lincoln is a long-term documentary editing project dedicated to identifying, imaging, and publishing, both comprehensively in electronic form and selectively in printed volumes, all documents written by or to Abraham Lincoln during his lifetime (1809-1865). The project is composed of three series: Series I, Legal Papers consists of documents from Lincoln's quarter-century legal career; Series II, Illinois Papers consists of correspondence and all other non-legal documents prior to Lincoln's inauguration as president in March 1861; and Series III, Presidential Papers consists of correspondence and other records from Lincoln's presidency. The Papers of Abraham Lincoln is a project of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, co-sponsored by the University of Illinois at Springfield, Center for State Policy and Leadership. Series I, Legal Papers is also co-sponsored by the Abraham Lincoln Association.
