Since 1997, partners in the Healthy Futures Project (HFP) have sought to achieve six objectives in reaching the goal of a comprehensive/integrated health education program at Josephinum High School (JHS): 1. Orientation of JHS teachers and staff to CHAMC/UIC-CON health education program 2. Assessing student health needs and health content in JHS curriculum 3. Evaluation of nationally known comprehensive school health curriculum 4. Teacher investment in health education program 5. Incorporating health services into the health education project 6. Evaluation of program components The two-fold mission of the HFP is to: 1) Foster the health and well-being of students through an integrated school, parent, university and community partnership, and 2) Promote health activities that assist students to attain health information and control over decisions that affect their physical, mental, and social well-being.
