Public Service Activities
College of Medicine at Rockford
The Rockford campus offers a variety of public services to patients and the community at large in Northern Illinois. Clinic services include: University primary care clinics in Belvidere, Mount Morris, and Rockton; a Women's and Children's Clinic on Perryville Road in Rockford, a Family Health Center on Ninth and State Streets in Rockford, and Allergy and Psychiatry clinics at Parkview Avenue in Rockford.
Services to the community include: the most extensive medical library in Northern Illinois, a Health System Research unit that provides demographic and survey data, the University's Office of Outreach and Public Service, and the presence of a 400 seat auditorium and numerous breakout rooms that are in constant demand.
In addition to the M.D. degree offered by the College of Medicine, the Rockford program offers five Masters degrees in Nursing, via the College of Nursing at UIC, and an MPH degree from the School of Public Health at UIC.
A program unique to the College is the Rural Medical Education Program which affords 15 seats/medical class to matriculants from rural Illinois who pledge to return as Family Practitioners to rural Illinois.
The College is a Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization, designated for its role in, Development of Health Care Professionals and Health Care Systems.
