Curriculum Improvement

This program facilitates education reform by bringing together a diverse group of Chicago area educators with experts in a variety of disciplines to develop curriculum improvement projects that go beyond selecting textbooks, writing syllabi and curriculum guides, or selecting and generating predesigned curriculum packages.

The goals of the project are to understand and document where an in-service emphasis on curriculum leads to improved practice; to help educators acquire greater self-direction and social responsibility; to provide assistance and advice to curriculum leaders and teachers as they pursue the in-service educational opportunities provided for curriculum improvement; and to disseminate the experiences gained by program members as well as participating schools.
