Field Instruction Division of JACSW
Field instruction is a critical part of the birth and development of new social workers. The field placement internship links students with social service agencies throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. Students work with field faculty members to identity and secure placements in agencies, and develop learning goals and objectives that will be the most educationally sound for their particular interest and orientation into the profession. The educational process integrates knowledge from the classroom, the social work practice community and social service research.
Through the field instruction process, students develop their professional identification with social work, and begin their journey toward becoming a social work practitioner. Our mission is to produce competent social work professionals who are dedicated, committed and able to empower at risk individuals, families, groups and communities.
