Health Information Referral Network

This program was created by the University of Illinois at Chicago Library of the Health Sciences (UIC LHS) to enhance access to health-related information in the state of Illinois by fostering and facilitating appropriate referrals among cooperating institutions; and to promote information sharing among health information professionals.

In addition to the UIC's Drug Information Center and Health Sciences Libraries in Chicago, Peoria, Rockford, and Urbana, HIRN includes fifteen multitype health information centers affiliated with the Alzheimer's Association, American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, American Dental Association, American Dietetic Association, U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the Chicago Public Library, DePaul University, Loyola University, Midwestern University, Northwestern University, Rush University, the University of Chicago, and Evanston Hospital.
