Public Service Activities


K-8 Primary Health Care Curriculum Project

The curriculum for this project covers community health, consumer health, disease prevention and control, emotional and mental health, family health, growth and development, nutrition, personal health practices, safety and first-aid, and substance use and abuse. Responsible decision making is emphasized, as is preventing and controlling childhood communicable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases including HIV, chronic diseases, violence, and drug abuse. Mental health, self-esteem, and human sexuality (including responsible dating and avoiding pregnancy) are also stressed. Specific lessons have been developed for each grade level.
