Chicago Manufacturing Center

The center is a not-for-profit organization serving the modernization needs of the Chicago area's 16,000 small and mid-sized manufacturers. The operation is part of national network of similar centers supported through the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)under the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology. Using both federal, state, and local support these MEP centers provide fee-based services to help manufacturers overcome barriers caused by limited budgets, lack of in-house expertise and difficulty in accessing new technologies. The center was formed in 1994 and provides service in; operations and production process improvements; marketing and sales; international business development; quality assurance and certification; information systems and technology integration; sewn products technology, growth management; and workforce training.
